Grade 2/3 ankle sprain. been a week. slight swelling, very bruised. when walking w/o boot/crutches it hurts sometimes. when can i stop using them?

Will take 4-6 weeks: If you have a grade 3 sprain it could take 6 weeks or more to heal - would suggest an mri to confirm the diagnosis if you have a grade 2 sprain which is more likely, it will gradually heal over 4-6 weeks and your activity level will continue to improve as long as you don't do anything to exacerbate the problem.

For one thing: When the pain stops. If you attempt to walk and have pain get back in there. Yu may want to consider physical therapy. Ice the region as much as possible as well.
