A member asked:

Hello sir please tell me does mebendazole treatment kill healthy bacteria in the body and if this is the case how to restore them?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Mebendazole: Mebendazole is an anti-worm medication used to treat worm infections such as pinworm, roundworm, whipworm, hookworm. It does not have antibacterial effect. It should not kill the healthy bacteria in the body. Probiotics such as lactobacillus -found in yoghurts with active cultures- and bifidobacterium are helpful in restoring healthy bacteria while taking antibiotics.
