Dr. Martin Raff answered

Specializes in Infectious Disease

This virus is transmitted by exposure to infectious blood or body fluids. Infection at time of birth is the most often way in areas of the world where the disease is common. In areas where the disease is rare intravenous drug use and sex are the most frequent routes of infection. There is now therapy available, see a specialist. Good luck.
