What are the common procedures used in identification and treatment of uterine fibroids?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Fibroids: Fibroids are generally found with the use of ultrasound but any of the imaging modalities can identify them. Once found, the real question is are they symptomatic. Since fibroids are nearly always benign, if they are not causing any problems they can be left alone. Treatment depends on desire for fertility. Myomectomy may be offered if still having children and hyst or embolization if not.
