A member asked:

My daughter, 32, has pneumonia and is being treated. can she infect us, worried she could give it to her 4 year old son who has croup.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: Many are a secondary infection that arises after a cold and involve invasion by common respiratory germs we all carry in our nose/airway.Pneumococcal pneumonia, which is common, is not that contageous.Mycoplasma or viral pneumonia could be with close contact. Her 4 yo may have given her the croup germ that started the process.
