A member asked:

My 17 year old daughter was diagnosed with vocal cord dysfunction. but i am not in agreement. she has shortness of breath while exercising, walking up?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It is confusing: VCD is a confusing condition that can mimic asthma and other conditions. It can happen at rest or during exercise and treatment involves retraining the kid in their approach to breathing by a speech pathologist/therapist. The suspicion can sometimes be confirmed in a ENT office chair by directly visualizing the vocal cords.Work with an ENT until you feel you have answers.
