Shortness of breath: Along with shortness of breath, signs of a pulmonary embolism would be coughing that may produce blood, chest pain that worsens when taking a deep breath, lightheadedness, wheezing, increased heart rate. Consistent: The principal symptoms initially of a pulmonary embolism are chest pain, shortness of breath, and possibly bleeding. Long term issues are exercise intolerance, along with possible cardiac findings and swelling. Your daughter should see her primary physician and have it worked up.
