Very safe drug: Nearly all drugs have potential side effects. But the frequency of severe or dangerous ones with azithromycin is exceedingly low. The chance of a dangerous outcome from untreated infection is hundreds of times higher than chance of a dangerous side effect. Most "undefined urethral irritation" is nongonococcal urethritis, an STD. Get tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia and make sure partners treated
