Wisdom teeth: You may be making salt water too concentrated. one half tsp. per pint of water. can use baking soda instead at same dilution.Can rinse with warm water. No mouthwashes, have alcohol in them and will burn.

NO RINSING: Did your dentist or oral surgeon give you post op instructions? Do not rinse! There is absolutely no need to rinse anything out. The rinsing may actually dislodge the blood clot (which remains somewhat soft due to the wet environment). If the clot dislodges you have a much better chance of a dry socket. Any bloody saliva can be gently spit into the sink or toilet.
