Is a blood pressure of around 140/90 really that bad that i need to take blood pressure pills or can i change my diet and lifestyle to help it go down?

This is a bit: dependent on your age and other health issues. If you have diabetes/other increased risk for heart/vascular disease, it is very important that your blood pressure be lower. Also, harder to normalize if you develop high blood pressure when young. But certainly optimizing your diet, weight, exercise patterns, alcohol and salt intake can be important. If you do all those things, you may avoid drugs.
