I've had enlarged lymph nodes for about a month, not sick anymore. doc says not a worry.how can they tell it's not cancerous/worrisome by touch only ?

Yes, mostly touch: If there are multiple smaller nodes then it's not as suspicious. If they sprung up and were tender and soft and mobile then they are likely benign. It's isolated larger nontender lymph nodes that are harder and "matted" that we worry about.
