PET CT: Sounds like your doctor is searching for what we call "occult malignancy", which means a cancer perhaps hidden somewhere and previously undiagnosed. In this case a whole body PET can screen for that possibility. If there is suspicious for paraneoplastic CNS involvement then you may also need an antibody screen. Best of luck!
