Unusual but could be: "normal" frequency of bowel movements is highly variable. If one has a history of 5 bowel movements per day and it has been this way for years, then this is normal for that individual. However, if one historically has only one bowel movement per day and the suddenly has 5 per day, this would be abnormal. It all depends on what is "normal" for you.

Not so much.: Everyone has some changeability in bowel habits, and sometimes a certain food will cause "the runs". However, if you frequently have 5 or more stools daily, you should see your doctor. Review your diet, medical history, and medications. If you see blood, that definitely should be evaluated.
