Chronic severe back pain. mri: discs inflamed, slightly degenerate, "guarded" low back. im 22, pt not helping. i want to get back to sports. help?

Other causes: Mild degenerate discs should not cause severe back pain. There are other causes for severe back pain. I would suggest that you get evaluated. Have you had any injury (sports, car accident, slip and fall?). The SI joint is a common but overlooked cause for severe pain. It is also possible for the back pain to come from other areas such as pelvis, kidneys, colon. Consult a MD for evaluation and tx.
