Yes: Throat infections such as strep throat, and upper respiratory infections such as the common cold, are very common and affect everyone, including people taking allergy shots. Taking allergy shots does not prevent a person from catching contagious diseases like throat and nose infections.

The right side of my throat hurts, and feels dry. Also, my right ear feels full and hurts. When I put a q tip in my right ear it also hurts. I have no other symptoms. Is this just allergies or an infection??
