Fever? Stiff neck?: The symptoms aren't "normal", but are common with infections of the head, neck, & throat. (They could be viral, or strep. Please check w/ your pediatrician). Painful glands generally point to bacterial more than viral, but only way to be sure is by testing. Meningitis, or infection that spreads to the lining of the brain, would present with high fever (104F), neck stiffness, irritability, lethargy
