Compulsions: Compulsive behaviors are typically motivated by a feeling of life being out of control. One begins to obsess (thoughts) and compulsively behave in a futile effort to bring life into control. There can also be a neurological component to the process. Learning new things can be wonderful. If that robs someone of inner freedom, harms relationships or job performance than seek professional support.
