What GI issue?: What's the issue being treated with Nexium? If it's an ulcer, then you may need an EGD (or another EGD) to make sure there's no bacteria in there making the ulcer persist. If it's reflux due to a hiatal hernia, then you truly may need to take the Nexium forever, as a hiatal hernia is a structural issue that is not eradicated by medicine.
