Hypnosis: This is not an uncommon fear; and of course because you're afraid you'r BP is likely to be higher when they do measure it (which is maybe why you're fearful in the 1st place?). Hypnosis can help you learn relaxation skills and desensitize you to the procedure of getting your BP measured. You can do this with a certified hypnotherapist or even find some good downloads online and do self hypnosis.

Terror w/BP med: Many folks do not like to take medication but "terror" is another matter. What do you fear? Discuss w/doc. Ask him/her about natural approaches such as Kyolic Formula 109, which is aged garlic for BP. If you have terror in other areas of life also, consider a few sessions w/a mental health pro to help w/anxiety. Peace and good health.

Are you afraid: of the actual procedure of taking the blood pressure or are you worried about what the results will be? Do you need regular blood pressure readings? Have you had a negative experience with having blood pressure measured before? If there is an irrational fear involved consider cognitive behavioral therapy. If you are afraid of the results - would discuss with your doctor. Take care.
