Self examination: generally speaking the most important risk for breast cancer is advancing age and family history. regular Breast self examination and regular mammograms are recommended tools for early detection, also reporting any lumps or skin / nipple changes or discharge to your doctor.

A routine mammogram: is the screening test of choice for women at low risk. If any questions findings show up, additional views can be taken. Ultrasound and/or needle biopsy would be done next if there were suspicious findings. If you feel a lump in your breast or other abnormalities, what I outlined above is the way to proceed in general. Breast cancer: The simplest way to determine if you have breast cancer is to see a physician for abreast examination. If there are any suspicious findings a biopsy would be in order
