Both: If working/exercising and significantly sweating for more than one hour, then an electrolyte solution like Gatorade is a good idea to replenish lost sodium, potassium, etc. You don't need to rely only on Gatorade, and a combination of water and Gatorade is the best idea. Gatorade also will provide some calories via sugar/carbs.

Hydration: The body loses water , sodium, and potassium when we sweat. Drinking just water can help, but for the cells to use that water it has to have sodium and glucose available. Gatorade is formulated for this, but drinking water and eating a sandwich is just as good, helping the body to retrieve necessary electrolytes. Water alone is not enough.
