Yes: Yes they can, and if you have flank pain and tenderness along with burning with urination you should visit an MD for a full evaluation right away in the ER please. Urinary obstruction is an emergency and requires placement of nephrostomy tubes. You may or may not have obstruction, it seems like the stones have been diagnosed but they may grow and block the flow of urine into the ureter. MD ASAP.
