A member asked:

Could a fall onto my bottom/lower back cause my kidney stones to move out of the kidneys?

Dr. James Lin answered

Possible ...: Possible. An existing stone may change its location or detached from the papilla of kidney calyx at sudden acceleration and deceleration forces. But, pain from contusion tends to be constant and worse at certain physical activities; stone-related pain tends to be erratic in onset, degree, duration, and interval, but not physically related.
