A member asked:

Child's got an inf. cephalohematoma. it happened 2 weeks ago. till now we didn't notice hematoma's regress. should we drain it or wait? it's 3x6sm

Confusing wording: ? Inf.cephalohematoma ? Do you mean infantile or infected ? Cephalohematomas should be left alone. Any attempt to drain it could introduce germs into the site and cause worrisome infection. It may take months for it to resolve and a few will have a calcium deposit ( residual bump) that lasts a year or two, but natural skull growth eventually makes it disappear.
