It : It may be scarring and fibrosis and as it was drfained once the surgeon may not want to do this again. Sometimes areas of swelling stay swollen ewvebn though the hematoma or seroma is gone. Often splinting, therapy and compression with a glove or similar garment will help the problem is that if once tries to remove the scarring it just reacumulates if it is done again too early. This is especuially true if it is due to trauma.
