May be normal: Some children just have a more curved 5th finger and it causes them no trouble at all. If it is the same on both hands, and he uses his hands normally, it is most likely to be normal for him. Mention it to your doctor on the next visit, but it is likely to be a normal thing.

Clinodactyly is the: Medical term for incurving pinkies. The most common cause is autosomal dominant inheritance with no other abnormalities. Each of his kids will have a 50% chance of having it. Don't worry: This is a normal variant. As long as she has full use of his hand you should have no problems. I assume that since it took you two years to notice, that it must be very mild. It does tend to run in families, so you might find that some siblings have the same or child's father or uncle's have the same condition. Good luck, jp.
