A member asked:

Can someone with bilateral lower limbs crps get hip replacement surgery. or could this intesify the pain? patient is 67 and has severe hips oa

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Tough decision: CRPS is NOT an absolute contra-indication for surgery, but the leg issues could worsen following surgery. However, the hip problems may require a total hip arthroplasty which could improve function. Consider pre-operative sympathetic blocks, and maybe use of a dorsal column stimulator later if necessary.
