85 y/o grandma, w/ a history of heart disease, diabetes & early alzheimer's, has developed osteoarthritis & osteonecrosis. was advised treatment of partial hip replacement. worried about during & after surgery. realistically, what's the risk for her?

Her risk depends a lot on the underlying cardiac problem. The term heart disease is too general and some cardiac condition can be prohibitive such as severe valvular disorder or poor left ventricular function or recent ischemic heart event. Cardiac clearance is a must. If she is cleared by cardiologist, her peri-operative risk is still moderate, not mild. Good luck.

This is a very good question but very difficult to answer. If the persons quality of life would improve during their life ? The down time of elderly is a concern. Sometimes they do not recover. Family doctor would be a good source of information.
