Nodes?: Most swollen glands or lumps under the skin are not cause for concern. The glands (lymph nodes) on either side of the neck, under the jaw, or behind the ears commonly swell when you have a cold or sore throat. More serious infections may cause the glands to enlarge and become very firm and tender. If it gets bigger or you have fevers see a doctor. Try some ibuprofen in the meantime.

Enlarged lymph node: Certainly, a cold can cause enlargement of lymph nodes, called reactive lymph nodes. It should slowly go down after the viral infection clears, but if it gets larger or persists, you may need to see your doctor to evaluate it. No immediate concern is necessary.
