Motor Tics are: nonvoluntary body movements (blinking, twitching) made repeatedly, rapidly, and suddenly. A person experiences it as irresistible but can suppress the movement briefly. Non-motor/vocal tics are sounds (sniff, grunt, bark, words). Tourette's Disorder is a combination of motor and vocal tics. Tics occur in 7% of children at any time, migrate, and come and go. 85% resolve by adulthood. Some persist.
