What a hypoechoic area in the liver means?

What does this mean?: The term hypoechoic means that the amount of sound wave sent through the liver during ultrasound that bounced back to the transmitter was less than that of the surrounding tissue. So it is less dense. Without more information about what was seen further comment can't be made about what this finding could be. I suggest you discuss with the doctor who ordered the test. They are best suited to answer
