Cold Urticaria: Cold urticaria is an allergy where hives (urticaria) form after exposure to cold. The welts are usually itchy and the hands and feet will be itchy and swollen. Hives vary in size from about 7 to 25mm diameter or larger. The disease is classified as chronic when hives persist longer than 6 wks. It can be inherited or acquired, the latter usually occurring between ages 18 to 25 years.
