my hands are inflamed, itchy and swollen, and a few spots of hives have developed at my wrist. could this be allergies?

Likely. : If new hives, think food (within four hours, esp top 8 allergens), medication, insect stings. Top 8: egg, cow milk, wheat, soy, peanut, tree nut, fish, shellfish. But if hives keep coming >4-6 weeks, think immune, viral, stress, physical environment hives. Could also be contact dermatitis. Check w allergist.
