Finger injury: You may have an injury to the tendons in your finger. One possibility is mallet finger. If there was an injury recently then it should be xrayed. If there is pain then you should have it looked at by a doctor as soon as you can.

Trigger finger: You do not say if the finger has ever been injured or how long it has been. From what you say, the problem is what is called a trigger finger which is related to a problem with a tendon. If this is the problem, an orthopedist or sometimes in an urgent care the finger can be injected. An injury to the finger where a bone is broken or a joint injured can cause this problem. Have an MD evaluation.
