A member asked:

I've had thyroid issues in the past and am having clinical signs again. my dr recommended checking bloodwork but she only checked my tsh (it's normal). is this the normal/best way to monitor for thyroid disease?

Tsh: TSH which is normal pretty much rules out a thyroid disorder. Other thyroid blood tests can give conflicting results in certain instances, but the TSH is very reliable and quite specific. If you have further concerns, a thyroidologist or endocrinologist is best qualified to evaluate your thyroid status.

TSH plus: T3 (liothyronine) T4 TBG ( thyroid binding globulin ) and free thyroxine levels as well as anti- thyroid antibodies ( globulins )
