A member asked:

Which test is best to monitor thyroid levels in thyroidectomy patients, just ft3 and ft4, tsh and ft4, or like i feel should be tsh, ft3 and ft4?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

TSH: All you really need is a tsh. Assuming there is nothing wrong with your pituitary, this hormone responds in a very sensitive manner to the levels of your T4 and t3 (liothyronine). You are presumably taking levothyroxine as replacement.
