Chronic cough & GERD: Yes, absolutely GERD can cause those symptoms. In essence, you describe a chronic cough. GERD, whether symptomatic or silent often causes irritation of the airway resulting in mucous, cough and throat clearing. The other most common causes are asthma (which can be worsened by GERD) and post nasal drip. A trial of an acid blocker should help. It may take a few weeks before noticeable improvement.

GERD: Best to discuss this with your ENT who knows your medical history. If you are uncomfortable with your Dr. consult with another for a second opinion.
