Amniotic fluid: Amniotic fluid embolism is a very rare complication -- around 1/80,000. In 16 years I have only seen one case. This is a very rare obstetrical complication but it is also why we must respect the inherent risks of child birth and be prepared to provide the safest care for moms and babies.
