Not long: Untreated Hep C and alcohol abuse can cause cirrhosis, which can lead to liver failure requiring liver transplant. Also, Hep C is a risk factor for liver cancer. The facial swelling and bruises are already signs of liver failure. Based on your description, his health is rapidly declining. If your uncle wants to live, he needs to quit alcohol completely and get his Hep C treated by a liver doctor.
