A member asked:

My fasting sugar is almost always high over 7. however, my random sugar is in range. why?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Fasting sugar: Are you a known diabetic and on medication? If not your fasting blood sugar normal range would be about 70 to 100. If yours is 107 it is borderline high and could mean mild or prediabetes. A hgb A1c determination would settle the case. Your random blood sugar can vary according to intake of carbohydrates and how much insulin your pancreas releases to bring down a transient rise in blood sugar.
