NOT painful!!!: If acupuncture was painful it would not be very popular. One might expect that sticking needles in you would be painful, but the needles are very thin and they barely go into the skin so any discomfort is really minimal, nothing at all like getting a shot. Then if you get a good treatment it puts you in to a state of relaxation and sometimes even bliss! As for how long, it is highly variable...
