Mitral valve repair: Many mitral valve repair operations involve the implantation of a ring around the valve annulus. The ring is covered with cloth. Clots can form on the ring, or in other parts of the heart. If there is atrial fibrillation then doctors would often give an anticoagulant blood thinner like warfarin, but if not, then aspirin would often be used. There is not much hard data to say which is best.
