Depends: Annuloplasty does help to spare and preserve the intrinsic valve. So that is a benefit. Alternative procedures include total valve replacement. There are no guarantees on either procedure. Discuss all options with your cardiologist and surgeon.

Yes: Mv repair involves anuloplasty ring, they will do additional repair depending on the valve eg; if there is flair chord they will fix it, if there is prolapse or flail leaflet, they cut part of it and repair it etc.
