A member asked:

Drinks like gatorade/powerade replenish you and quench your thirst. but how is this possible when they have sodium(salt)? doesnt salt dehydrate you?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Replaces salt losses: During exercise and sweating, we lose variable to large amounts of salt/sodium and other electrolytes, especially if a heavy and salty sweater and/or exercising for over one hour. Beverages like gatorade and powerade replenish those salt losses while also providing water for hydration and some carbohydrates for energy replacement as well. We don't endorse talking salt alone without the hydration.
