May not be hepatic?: There R many possible causes of bad memory. If your husband had hepatic encephalopathy, & now has a normal functioning liver, other causes of brain dysfunction have to be considered. In other words, if the new liver is functioning normally, it is unreasonable to assume that hepatic encephalopathy is causing the current memory problem. Dr. Mike
