A member asked:

How long can a person with cirrhosis of the liver and mild hepatic encephalopathy live if transplant is not an option ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends.: If encephalopathy is manageable with lactulose and everything else is stable (no variceal bleeds, normal protime and albumin) - could be years. If drinking continues, could bleed out tomorrow.
