What happens if you have hepatic encephalopathy and do not get a liver transplant?

Liver failure: Hepatic encephalopathy usually means that your liver is not functioning properly. This tends to be one of the later symptoms of liver failure. If left untreated, liver failure will ultimately cause death. Some patients are candidates for liver transplantation which can be very effective.

Progression: It usually signals advanced esld. In the absence of transplant, this is usually the forerunner of complications such as as cites, wasting, bleeding and even cancer of the liver, which usually lead to death.
