My son only cough, sneeze and sniffle at night when he's trying to go to sleep. it happens quite often. he has allergies but only does this at night.

Allergic rhinitis: Nasal congestion that occurs at bedtime and upon waking up is often times the result of a dust mite allergy. Claritin and Zyrtec are two over the counter allergy medications approved for children. If symptoms resolve after routine use of these medications daily, the diagnosis is more likely.
