Cold versus allergy: A cold is unlikely to last for more than several days, and might be linked to a low-grade fever. However, an allergy can cause itchy eyes, sneezing, and a runny nose for weeks at a time. It's sometimes difficult to tell, especially during the Spring in the Northeast. Check with the child's pediatrician to see if there are any other signs/symptoms of an upper respiratory infection ('cold').
