A member asked:

My alt is 61. freaked out when i got on computer. rest of lft's normal. should i be worried? pcp doesn't seem seem concerned (i do take atorvastatin)

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No concern: About 10% of people have elevation of ALT while on statins and it is not a cause for concern. Your ALT is not high enough to consider a change in the statin medication. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex.
